Debby Boone will "Light Up" Your Life
As the third daughter of singer-actor Pat Boone, Grammy Award-winning Debby Boone has made a name for herself in the music industry.
In 1977, she earned immediate recognition when her rendition of "You Light Up My Life" became one of the biggest songs in history, charting at #1 on Billboard for ten straight weeks and selling more than four million albums. The song's success led to Boone winning her first Grammy award in 1978 for Best New Artist.
The instant classic, written by Joseph "Joe" Brooks, was originally recorded by Kasey Cisyk for the soundtrack to the 1977 film of the same name. Although it was meant to be a love song, Boone recorded her version to reflect her Christian faith.
In the 1980s, Boone continued to record gospel music, which garnered four Top 10 Contemporary Christian albums as well as two more Grammys. Her 1989 album, Home for Christmas, features holiday favorites including a duet with mother-in-law Rosemary Clooney on "White Christmas."
