Although Ann Hampton Callaway has spent decades perfecting her songwriting skills, she chose a selection of famous ballads from popular 20th century films to feature in her Jazz Goes to the Movies album released in October 2018.
Some of the songs included are "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca, "The Way You Look Tonight" from Swing Time, "'Swonderful" from An American in Paris, and "Blue Skies" from The Jazz Singer.
"All my life I have been enchanted by the marriage of film and music, whether in movie musicals or in the artful use of song to further a story," said Callaway.
Amanda McBroom established the Gecko recording label in 1985 and has recently used it to release her newest album, VOICES. Having worked with labels such as Varese Sarabande Records for her other recordings, McBroom has produced more than half a dozen albums over the last forty years.
Her greatest hit, "The Rose," has been covered by famous singers including Bette Midler and Conway Twitty. Recently, the song was featured in the second season of the highly popular show, "True Detective" on HBO.
