Artists Who Teach is an annual exhibition that presents the artwork of our talented regional arts educators from the entire Coastal Virginia region – the Southside and the Peninsula. Artwork in all media are represented by current faculty at area schools and colleges.

About the Juror: Artist and educator Clay McGlamory selected the award winners for the exhibition. McGlamory taught at Old Dominion University for 19 years and has been teaching at the Governor’s School for the Arts for 28 years. He runs his own press, Half Ass Press based in Norfolk, and is current President of the Virginia Glass Guild.

Judge’s Statement: "I was honored to be chosen as Juror for this year’s Artists Who Teach exhibition, after having been an artist in the exhibition multiple times. I have never believed the adage 'those who can’t do, teach' and this group of artists only strengthens my feelings. There were many great works to select from and I had some difficult choices. That difficulty was amplified when I went to The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center to view the installed exhibit and make decisions about awards.

I believe the works I chose and the installation of the show by The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center knowledgeable staff, resulted in a wonderful exhibition. I would like to thank Art Center Manager Jenny Morningstar, Assistant Manager Ellie Kincaid, Gallery Assistant Cody Latpakdy and volunteers Melody Avery and John Whelan. I would also like to thank Richard Parison, Artistic Director of Hampton Arts for continuing support of the visual arts in our region. I would like to extend my congratulations and thanks to all the artists included in this exhibition and those that applied and were not accepted. Please stay safe, strong and healthy during these uncertain days."
