Broadway Stars Teach Hampton Youth This Summer!

Our new Hampton Arts Education SummerStage Musical Theatre Institute is bringing Broadway to you!

This summer, children ages 8-17 can come to The American Theatre to participate in an 7-week long hands-on program to dive into acting, costuming, set design, and more!

We will have MasterClass sessions taught by Broadway actors including:

James T. Lane

  • Broadway: Kiss Me, Kate (Paul), King Kong the Musical, The Scottsboro Boys, Chicago and A Chorus Line Revival (Richie)
  • London West End: The Scottsboro Boys, A Chorus Line - Revival (London Palladium Theatre).
  • Broadway National Tours: Jersey Boys, Cinderella, Fame the Musical.
  • Regional Theatre Includes: Dreamgirls, Kiss Me Kate, Once on This Island, The Wiz.
  • Concerts: Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops, Ottawa Symphony and many more.
  • James has taught jazz dance in practically every city he has performed in. He has enjoyed working closely with performing arts students from Elementary school on up to master classes with University students and beyond.

Rema Webb

  • Broadway credits include: Escape to Margaritaville, The Color Purple, Violet, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, and Ragtime. Rema also starred in A New Brain at Encores! Off-Center. 

  • Favorite regional credits include: You’re Standing In My Way: A New Song Cycle by William Finn and Deborah Abramson at Barrington Stage Company, The Colored Museum at the Huntington Theatre Company (Elliot Norton Award for Best Ensemble) and Being Alive (Westport Country Playhouse and Philadelphia Theatre Company).

  • Rema made her 54 Below solo concert debut with Children Will Listen and had an encore production of the concert at 42 West. She was recently in John Doyle’s Off-Broadway production of The Cradle Will Rock at the Classic Stage Company.

  • She is the proud Founder/Executive Director of a prestigious Performing Arts School for children called On Broadway Performing Arts Training Program (www.onbroadway-patp.com). @remawebb

Josh Lamon

  • Josh Lamon just completed his run in the Tony Award nominated musical, Groundhog Day, where he originated the role of ‘Buster’, the town mayor and keeper of the Groundhog, Phil. He is currently starring in PROM on Broadway which was recently nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

  • He is most known for his other scene stealing work on and off Broadway in such hits as Finding Neverland (original cast), Hair (both the original revival cast and the 2011 ‘Summer Of Love’ company), Into the Woods (Opposite Amy Adams, Donna Murphy and Denis O’Hare), Little Miss Sunshine (James Lapine and Bill Finn) and his acclaimed performance of “Richard” (aka the Fat Nurse) in City Center’s revival of A New Brain starring opposite Jonathan Groff and Ana Gastayer. Ben Brantley called Josh’s work a “breakthrough performance”.

  • Josh has also been seen on such hit shows as 30 Rock, Inside Amy Schumer and playing “Craigory” on Hulu’s Deadbeat.

  • Currently Josh is developing his first original musical Bloody Bloody Jessica Fletcher: Murder She Wrote Live! with his co-writers Keith Varney, Kevin Zak and Phillip Taratula. The piece is being directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges (Spelling Bee, Xanadu, Lysistrata Jones). @joshlamon
