Hampton Arts League Open Member Exhibition 2016
It’s a new year, which means the Hampton Arts League Open Members Exhibition 2016 has more novel artwork for you to lay your eyes on! This annual exhibition includes 229 pieces of art created in various media from printmaking to watercolor and all in-between. Juror, Christi Harris had great expectations for this exhibition stating, “When I look at art, I expect to feel something. I expect to be transported into another world or a deeply felt emotion, whether it is sorrow or joy.” In case you were wondering, Christi Harris has an extensive background with the arts. She acquired her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking, and is the Chair of the Department of Fine Art and Art History at Christopher Newport University.
Harris was very pleased to find that her expectations were met by gorgeous artwork from multiple artists. She explained, “As I spent more time with the work, I found myself the most moved by works that embodied a quiet stillness and a sense of reflection, such as Peggy Power’s Light in the Forest.” After her analysis and interpretation, Christi Harris selected the winners hoping that her decisions “…resonate with the viewers”.
Congratulations to all of the participants in this year’s Hampton Art League Open Members Exhibition!
