History of Hampton Roads Philharmonic
History of Hampton Roads Philharmonic
The Hampton Roads Philharmonic boasts a diverse group of musicians, including active and retired military, teachers and students, senior citizens and youth, former concertmasters, and community members. It was in 2013 that this group was built based on the talent of professional and amateur musicians. To this day, The Hampton Roads Philharmonic regularly provides chamber ensembles to local events and organizations, where they continue to receive enthusiastic public acclaim. Every season, the orchestra’s goal is to commission new works and welcome both familiar and new composers. Over the course of six seasons, there has been a total of at least eight new compositions. With more than 25 performances at The American Theatre and the Ft. Monroe Theater, one of the highlights in recent years has been the HRP’s Young Artist Competition. Led by local Music Director Steven Brindle, we hope to see you at an HRP show this season!
