Riddick Dance
Beauty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance is as a performing arts organization that includes a repertory dance theater company (Riddick Dance). Both build bridges of understanding through the presentation, instruction and celebration of choreographic works, focusing on under-served communities while also addressing the broader public. Riddick Dance will perform at The American Theatre throughout the season. You don't want to miss these incredible performances!

ONE returns to The American Theatre stage with a fresh interpretation of the beauty found when two people capture the true essence of love through life’s obstacles and trials. Through the struggle comes the ability to look beyond the layers of the person you love and see the inner depths of each other’s soul. This is how a rare pearl of unconditional love is formed; hence the two become one.
CIARFOA - Saturday, December 10 at 8pm
CIARFOA is a must see production combining multiple art forms in this unique performance concept designed to uplift our community. Through CIARFOA, Beauty for Ashes celebrates dance, music, poetry, visual arts, and performance media; showcasing the importance of the performing and visual arts in the lives of the individuals who experience them.
Phoenix, Rising From the Ashes - Saturday, April 22 at 8pm
Phoenix is a story of a young boy who faces many trails in his life. Throughout his growing process the boy realizes how pain helps him become an anchor for others who grieve in silence. Therefore, like the mythical Phoenix, the boy bestows on each of them a crown of beauty as they rise from the ashes of their personal struggles.
Hampton Roads Philharmonic
A diverse and rapidly growing orchestra, the Hampton Roads Philharmonic includes active and retired military, music teachers, students, senior citizens, and youth. Welcoming familiar and new composers alike, the orchestra actively commissions new works each season; by the end of its third season, the Hampton Roads Philharmonic will have premiered nine new compositions. The Hampton Roads Philharmonic is making it's way to The American Theatre for yet another remarkable season!
Dvorak Symphony No. 6 - Sunday, October 16 at 2:30
The Hampton Roads Philharmonic will present a varied program from the standard repertoire. Featured on this program will be Dvorak's Symphony No. 6, a work of many influences that ultimately expresses Dvorak's Czech nationalistic style within the structure of Germanic classical-romantic form. Come enjoy other works presented by Otto Nicolai, Ravel, and Berlioz.
Winter Classics - Sunday, December 4 at 2:30pm
Come hear how the coldest times have inspired some of the greatest composers, including selections from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker ballet suite and his "Winter Dreams" symphony. Throughout the program, shake off some winter gloom with seasonal favorites such as The Skater's Waltz, Sleigh Ride, and a special guest narration of "A Visit from St. Nick."
Beethoven Symphony No.3 "Eroica" - Sunday, March 12 at 2:30pm
Don't miss the chance to hear Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, a masterpiece of passion, conflict, and triumph. A concert hall favorite, the "Eroica" symphony is a dramatic work that has been delighting audiences for over 200 years. In addition, the HRP is proud to present the first annual Young Artist Showcase Performance, featuring winners from our concerto & aria competition. Expect a program of crowd pleasing standards with some contemporary soon-to-be favorites.
