Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2pm-4pm

Students with any level of experience from beginning to more advanced may work with watercolor, acrylic and other mixed media as they explore their own style and original subject matter. Beginning students will learn fundamental materials and techniques, while more experienced students will be challenged to reach another level. The class will feature experimental projects, lecture, demonstration, individual instruction, and critiques.

Monday, April 3, 2017 at 6:30-9pm

For students looking to explore experimental techniques and learn novel approaches to creating works of art. This class will be focused on learning how to manipulate diverse materials to achieve unexpected results. We will create unique visual vocabularies, develop experimental compositions and achieve complete works of art. There will be short lectures/discussions and weekly critiques. Students should provide pencils, charcoal, colored pencil, ink, paint, collage, pastels and tools to work with and paper or other surfaces they would like to work on.

Thursdays, April 6-June 6, 2017 at 1-3:30pm

From enthusiastic beginners to experienced painters who want to take their work to the next level, high school ages and above. Covered topics include oil painting basics from materials to techniques and instruction on how to begin a painting. Emphasis is placed on using the design elements and principles to create strong paintings with discussion, demonstration and plenty of in-class painting time. Individual attention is provided during each class session with time for questions and critiques. A materials list is provided to registered students.

Fridays, April 7-June 2, 2017 at 10:00am-12:30pm

This class is designed for the more experienced student with some background in drawing or painting. Students will learn about the fundamental materials and tech-niques of working in pastel on a variety of papers, while more experienced students will progress to a new level with individual instruction. The focus of the class will be on materials, techniques, design, subject matter and personal expression. Students may work from their own original photographs, still life set ups, drawings or their imagination or they may choose to paint along with the instructor using the same reference photos and composition.
