Spring has sprung! Enhance your creativity by taking an art class at The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. Explore a variety of mediums to create stellar artwork—all skill levels are welcome! Take a look at our Spring 2018 Classes:
Painting in Oils and Acrylics
Students work with oils and acrylics to explore their own style and original subject matter. Beginning students will learn fundamental materials and techniques, while more experienced students will be challenged to reach another level.
Beginning Drawing
This class is for beginners only! Focus will be on becoming familiar with the tools of drawing and how to use them, how to begin a drawing, and basic drawing techniques including line work and shading. This will be a slow-paced, fun approach to the amazing world of drawing.
Poetry Workshop
Students will be taken through a journey of poetic discovery by discussing, reading, writing and workshopping poetry. There will be teacher and peer review of poems written in class with great care. Poems discussed will come from a myriad of poets and will range in form and subject matter.
Pastels or Pastel Portraits
This class is designed for the student with some background in drawing or painting. Students will learn about the fundamentals and techniques for working in pastel. The focus of the class will be on materials, design, subject matter and personal expression.
Focusing on Oils
Do you want to learn to paint with oils but it sounds too complicated? By understanding some basic principles you will learn the proper mediums, solvents and varnishes that will produce fantastic work! This class will focus on oil basics for painters of all levels.
