Marin Mazzie
Hampton Arts 30th Birthday Gala
Three-time Tony Award nominee and 2017 Theater Hall of Fame Inductee Marin Mazzie will join Hampton Arts and Hampton Arts Foundation and perform at its 30th Birthday Gala. Additionally Hampton Arts and Hampton Arts Foundation will honor Ross & Martha Mugler and POMOCO with the Coastal Virginia Renaissance Award — recognizing their long term commitment to the performing and visual arts in Hampton and Coastal Virginia. After the concert, you’ll enjoy dinner, drinks, dancing and birthday cake throughout The American Theatre.
Previously announced performer, Megan Hilty, will not be in attendance and released the following statement:
“I am deeply saddened to have to cancel my performance at the Hampton Arts Foundation 30th Birthday Gala. Due to medical issues, my doctors have made it clear that I should focus on my health. I was very much looking forward to celebrating this wonderful organization that contributes so much to your community. Now, more than ever, we need our communities to stand up and support the arts. Marin Mazzie is a brilliant artist; you will love her as much as I do… the show must go on! Have a wonderful evening and thank you for supporting the arts.”
With a Broadway career spanning more than three decades, Mazzie has appeared in an astounding 11 Broadway shows and has earned three Tony Award nominations for her performances in Kiss Me, Kate, Ragtime, and Passion. New York Times critic Ben Brantley has described her as “wry and voluptuous” while the Hollywood Reporter touted her recent turn in The King and I as “superb.” In addition to her theatre credits, Mazzie has performed as a concert soloist as Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center, as well as around the country with her husband and fellow Broadway actor, Jason Danieley.
